Carsten Sommer (l.), Gaby Sommer (m.) und Marco Klimmt (r.)

Together with the BMZ Group into the future.

The BMZ Group, a globally operating specialist in lithium-ion batteries, has made a strategic investment to acquire NOX CYCLES Austria and all of its sister companies in Germany and Switzerland, as well as the primarily Germany-based HAWK Bike Sales GmbH

Both companies have a long history of excellent business relations. BMZ is both the battery and motor supplier for the high-performance NOX E-Mountainbikes and also serves as a distribution partner for NOX in both brick-and-mortar and online retail

BMZ sees itself as a long-term partner for its OEM and Tier 1 customers in the areas of development, supply, and service—ranging from customized battery solutions to fully integrated drive systems for e-bikes. By integrating NOX and HAWK, BMZ gains access to extensive product development, manufacturing, and market expertise in the e-bike segments of city, trekking, and MTB.

Carsten Sommer

CEO & Founder of the BMZ Group, Sven Bauer, commented: "Through strategic forward integration, we are intensifying our expertise to further enhance the enthusiasm for our BMZ products with innovative, customized solutions." The BMZ Group has acquired all shares of the holding company SoCo Ltd., based in Malta, from Gaby and Carsten Sommer. SoCo Ltd. in turn holds 100% of the shares in Nox Cycles GmbH, Nox Cycles Austria GmbH, and Hawk Bike Sales GmbH, as well as 50% of Nox Cycles Switzerland GmbH. Both companies emphasize maintaining the economic independence of the bike group, which was previously solely owned by the Sommer family. Accordingly, the management, existing customers, core suppliers, and employees will remain unchanged.

Dipl.-Ing. Carsten Sommer commented: "Building our own e-bike production in Tyrol since 2017 and focusing on 'Made in Austria' was bold, but the demand has always justified our decision. With BMZ, we have been able to gain a long-time business partner as a permanent shareholder, whose long-term vision will allow us to scale production and distribution even further." The acquisition marks a milestone for both companies and promises an exciting future in the e-bike industry. Nox Cycles and Hawk Bikes customers can continue to expect innovative and high-quality products.
